Gynecomastia is the abnormal growth of one or both breasts in men, giving an effeminate appearance to male pectorals or an excess of fat in the area (pseudoginecomastia).

It is the most common breast abnormality in males and in 80% of cases it affects both breasts. In 75% of cases it appears spontaneously and without apparent cause during puberty and usually disappears once this vital stage has been overcome. In the remaining 25% the causes are usually diverse, but the most common is the consumption of certain drugs or endocrine problems.

Frequent Questions

This problem affects a large part of the male population and may be due to an overgrowth of the mammary gland or an excess of fat. Any man who feels uncomfortable with the morphology or volume of his breasts is a candidate for this intervention.

There are two techniques in the treatment of gynecomastia.

If the problem is an excess of fat, surely a liposculpture of the breast area will be performed.

If there is also an excess of glandular tissue, an excision of the remaining mammary gland will be performed through a small incision in the areola.

The result is firmer pectorals, flat and masculine, which can be fully appreciated from the third, although it will improve until after the sixth month.
