The reconstruction of the breast after a cancer is one of the current surgical procedures within the safest and most rewarding plastic surgery for the patient.

The treatment of breast cancer should be approached by a multidisciplinary team formed by various specialists coordinated with each other (oncologists, gynecologists, general surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, nurses, psychologists and plastic surgeons).

The reconstruction of the breast does not alter the evolution of the disease, that is, it does not increase the risk of breast cancer relapse, nor does it interfere with the treatment of chemotherapy or radiotherapy, although the disease recurs.

Nor does it interfere with the tests that may be necessary in the post-treatment reviews.

If your breast has been reconstructed using implants and your surgeon recommends performing regular control mammograms, you should do them in a radiological center with experience in the use of radiological techniques for prostheses and indicate that you have a breast prosthesis.
